Hello!

It's been quite a long time since my last post, BUT I am back.  This semester is finally over with,  I did well in my classes (just found out a few hours ago and I'm so psyched!!) , and aside from working and a couple of responsibilities I have here and there, I am FREE for the summer! :D

I recently was able to put up a video last week.  I created a silk flower/butterfly bouquet for my Granny for Mother's Day.  You can check out that video below:

And of course, my Granny loved her gift!  It now has a new home on her kitchen table.  We had a wonderful day yesterday.  Snapped this pic after Mother's Day dinner:

She is so beautiful!  I love my Granny so much.  She is my best friend and like a mother to me! ^_^

Well, I better go check on dinner!

Autumn is here again!!!... Well, almost...

So, we still have a couple of days until the Autumnal Equinox, but I couldn't resist going ahead and decorating for Fall.  As I've mentioned before, I just love the Fall!  I can't wait for the weather to get cooler so we can light a fire in the fireplace, light a bunch of fall-scented candles (like my favorite Autumn Leaves by Yankee Candle!!!), celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving!  I'm so excited!  I just love this time of year!!!

Anyway, I thought I'd share some pictures of my decorating.  It's not really special.  I just took some things down from the attic and arranged them on top of tables and the fire place.  I didn't go all out.  It's pretty basic, but anyway, here they are...

Now I just need to get some candy to put in all those empty candy dishes!

It all started with yoga at the Y...

You know those days that start out normal and then you wind up doing something spur of the moment and it's just an unexpected blast?  Today was definitely one of those days.

Me in my yoga outfit on my way out the door.

My best friend works at the Y and wanted me to attend a yoga class with her this morning, so I dragged myself out of bed (which, is hard for me to do) threw on my yoga clothes and drove 20 minutes to the Y.  The class was all right.  I think we accidentally attended a class for seniors, so it was very beginner/easy.  She told me there were more challenging yoga classes there that we'll check out.

Anyway, after an hour of yoga, we hung out sipping some coffee for a while chatting about the pool there.  I LOVE to swim and I'm so burnt out on running, but the pool at my university is ALWAYS crowded mostly with people that aren't even really swimming.  They're just splashing around and wading in the water chatting.  Somehow, they think that's their workout.  I like swimming laps, and I hated dodging all the people that weren't really swimming.

My friend told me to swim at the Y with her that day and she would help me work on my flip turn and stroke.  I agreed.  We quickly stopped by her house, she gave me a suit to wear, grabbed some lunch on the way and went to the pool.

I love the pool at the Y because all of it is sectioned off into lanes as opposed to my school's pool, so you HAVE to be doing laps.  Also, there were only two other people there during the time we went!  It was a pleasant experience.

After that, we relaxed in the whirlpool and I was like... "How much is a membership???" :D

Because I'm a student, they waive the joining fee and allow me to pay 4 months at a time.  The next period would star May 1, and it would cost only $111 for the 4 months!  I'm definitely going to get a membership.  Even though the gym and pool on campus are already included in my student fees (whether I use those facilities or not), I would much rather swim at the Y, and roughly $28 per month is not bad considering I have access to a pool, gym and fitness/yoga classes.

I'm so excited to be getting back into swimming, hell, to just be getting back into working out regularly!

In loving memory of Kari

I have been away once again, but this time for a very unfortunate reason.

Just weeks after my mother passed away nearly two years ago, my father met a woman who added so much joy to his life, helped him through his tough time, made him so happy.  They both fell in love with each other and brightened up each other's life.  I had never seen my dad smile like a giddy teenage boy in love before, but he always did if I asked where he was going and it was to see her.

I'll admit it was a little quick after my mother's death, but who am I to judge?  It was just what my father needed to take his mind off of things.  He was going out and enjoying himself instead of sitting around depressed.

I met Kari.  I remember the first time.  My father had taken me and my granny to the pub she worked at for dinner.  I remember my first impression of her.  She was beautiful.  Tall and thin with gorgeous blue eyes.  I could see why my dad was attracted to her.  She was also a take charge type of woman.  She was managing that night and she did it well.  Also, she seemed so kind and friendly.  She was the type of person that everyone liked if they met her.

Over time, I got to know her more and loved her.  We got along so well.  We were like two best friends, but she was also like a mother to me.  In fact, I got along with her so much better than I had with my own mother.

I'll admit, when my father started bringing her over, I was still very depressed about my mother passing and it still felt like my mom's house.  I got over it, though, and realized that it wasn't her home anymore because she was no longer alive.  It was my dad's, and my dad needed to move on and so did I.

But it wasn't but a few months after my father and Kari started dating before she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  It was a devastating time for my father, and I was upset too.  I knew that pancreatic cancer was a bad one.  She was given six months to live.  She told my father in the hospital that if wanted out, he should get out then.  He wanted to stay.  I knew he would because he loved Kari so much.

Kari found a good oncologist and started chemotherapy.  She did chemo every other week.  It did make her very sick for a few days, but after that she was her same, lively self until her next round of chemo.  He hair didn't fall out.  She thinned up a little, but would always put weight back on during her off weeks.

Things seemed to be looking better.  We celebrated Christmas together on Christmas Eve, she and her son moved in that following April and in May, her CT scan should that her tumor and couple of lesions on her liver were shrinking.  Then she made it a year.  It seemed like she was doing so well.

My dad proposed to her around August or September.  I was so happy!  The wedding would be in May 2014.

Then around September or October, her CT scan showed that the tumor was growing again.  Her oncologist started her on a more aggressive chemotherapy that she had every week and then took a week off.  He hair fell out this time.  It was very hard on her body... and also ineffective on the tumor.

She started having bad stomach problems in December of last year.  They worsened until she had to go to he ER a few times.  Finally, she had a CT scan that showed the tumor in her pancreas had grown so much that it was pushing her intestine shut.

She had to have surgery to cut her intestine further down and hook it up to her stomach.  It was a successful surgery; however, the surgeon had gotten a good look at how much the cancer had taken over.  She was given 10 weeks to live.

She struggled through four more weeks.  She was in so much pain and so sick.  It was the hardest thing I've ever had to watch.  I hated it for her so much!  She was so young.  She had just turned 51.

Finally, she got to the point where we couldn't take care of her anymore.  Paramedics came to take her to a hospice house.  Watching them pick her up and put on the stretcher to take her away was the hardest thing to watch.  This strong, beautiful woman that I loved and respected and looked up to so much had withered away to nothing but skin and bones and wasn't in her right mind anymore because of all the medication.

After struggling a several more hours at the hospice house, she died that night.

That was last Friday.  Her memorial service is tomorrow.

I loved her so much!  It hurt so much to see her in so much pain, and in a way, it was a relief when she died because she was no longer suffering, but it still hurt that she was gone.  We had shared so many wonderful times together.  She was mother, a sister, a best friend to me.

She was my father's fiancĂ©, his love.  She never made it to her wedding day, a day she was so excited about and endlessly planning.

My father and I had lost another big piece of our lives again.  Not to mention how much of a loss it was for her family and friends.  She was a extraordinary woman in every way, beautiful inside and out.  I will never forget her.

I wish I had a green thumb...

I spotted this in my grandmother's garden one morning while eating breakfast.  It is a little rough around the edges, but I think it's just gorgeous!  And I've never seen one that big in her garden before.

I wish I had a green thumb like my granny, but if I look at a plant funny, it falls over.  Ha!  My granny really loves her roses and clipping off some to make a bouquet for any visitors (so I get a lot of bouquets :)).  She gets that from her mother who I never met because she died when I was a baby, unfortunately.  But, according to granny, we would have gotten along very well especially since her mother and I share the same love for cats and animals in general.

I think I'll get out my oil paints and attempt a painting of the rose.  It's so beautiful and I'm glad it had a chance to bloom before the cold whether sunk in. :)

Well, that's it for now.

Guess I can't count today...

Hey guys!

Yes, I know it's been a while.  And instead of typing my excuses out here, I made a video a couple of weeks ago that I just got around to uploading.  Here it is, if you are interested:

Yeah, so I've been busy, but who hasn't been?  I'm going to keep up making videos no matter what. I just love to do it!  Also, I appreciate all of my subscribers new and old for your support. :)

I also made an OOTD video last week that I just now got around to uploading.  I may have goofed up and put "OOTD #6" in the title on the video... Oops.  It's actually OOTD #5.  I must have forgotten how to count...  Anyway, here is the video if you are interested:

And I'm just so excited the weather is cooling down and it's been a lot less humid outside!  It's my favorite time of the year! ^_^

I'm still alive! I promise!

Hello all!

I know I've been a bit reclusive lately, especially if you watch me on YouTube or have left me a comment there.  I apologize, and I will promise I will respond to your comments (for those of you who have left one) very soon and will make another video soon.  Also, I have surpassed 100 subscribers!  I am so thankful for that!  You guys do not know how much I appreciate your support!  It means so much to me! ^_^

As for my absence lately, for one, I have been on vacation at the beach, and another reason is I just haven't been feeling like myself lately.  Everybody goes through that at some time or another.  On top of that, I recently got my birth control shot (the depo shot) and that really gets my hormones out of whack for several days, so I get all sorts of moody. Lol.

I think I'm pretty much back to normal and have been thinking a lot about making another video for you guys.  I always want to do a giveaway sometime within the next few months to show you all how much I appreciate your support!  Again, I am just so grateful to have reached 100 subscribers!  I know that may not seem like a lot to most people on YouTube, but it does to me!  That many people are watching my videos and showing support for me!  That means the world to me!  And that is why I want to do a little something special for you all. :)

In my absence, I haven't been doing anything too spectacular or exciting.  As I said, I did go to the beach with my family, and it was a lot of fun.  Also, I've been doing a lot more painting.  Going to all the little beach shops and seeing other artists' work really inspired me to get back  into creating pieces of my own.  Painting is really therapeutic for me.  I'm not very good at it, but I enjoy the heck out of it, and that's what counts! :D

I've also been birthday present hunting like crazy... at the mall, the beach, online!  That's always such a difficult task for me.  I lack all creativity when it comes to picking out the right gifts for people!  Since, it was just my best friend's birthday and my fiancĂ©'s birthday is coming up soon, I wanted to get them good gifts since they are both very special people in my life.  I found one particular gift for Elgin that I thought was a perfect gift for a guy who plays guitar... but  I won't tell you guys what it is just yet, in case he happens to be reading this post. ;)

Also, if anyone has any questions, requests, comments, concerns, etc., please do not hesitate to let me know!  I love to hear from you guys! :)

That's it for now!
