Ginger Stars!!!

Just less than six more days until Christmas!!!  My fiancé and I decided to bake some ginger cookies.  We cut them out in star shapes, because that was the most Christmasy cookie cutter we had (until I realized we had a candy cane one when I was putting the star one away... oh, well).  We also sprinkled red and green sprinkles on them to be more festive!  They also taste great!  If anyone would like the recipe, let me know, and I'll post it.

So, Christmas shopping is finally done and we're just getting ready for Tuesday; however, my favorite day is Christmas Eve.  We tend to do more on Christmas Eve than Christmas Day, and it's a more special time for my family.  It will be really hard to be having Christmas this year without my mother.  She was the one that always went all out for Christmas.  I think she loved it more than the rest of my family and I.  But we will try to make the best of it as we can.  I'm sure we'll still have a great time.

I just posted an OOTD video on my channel the that you should check out if you haven't seen it. The link to my channel should be somewhere to the right of this post.  Expect at least a couple of more videos before Christmas.  The will be holiday related.

That's it for now.  In the meantime, I'll be watching Christmas movies and snacking on Christmas cookies.

What have I been up to...?

I know I've been neglecting my blog and my channel!  Well, there are several reasons...

First, just as I was getting over my cold, I developed a kidney infection and the antibiotics the doc put me on made me feel terrible.  That lasted several days, and I'm better now!  Yay!

Second, my fiancé came to visit for the holiday break!  I've been spending most of my time with him and haven't had much time to blog or film; however, he and I did sit down and do the "All I want for Christmas TAG" which can be seen below:

I love including him in my videos. :D

Also, on top of that, I've been Christmas shopping and making presents and wrapping presents and I'm still not finished!!!  So, I've been pretty occupied.  I'll have to post a picture on here of one of my favorite presents I made.  ^_^ I'll be sure to do that sometime in the next couple of days!  And of course, more videos to come, as well!

Finals are over/I've been ill/New uploads!

Hello everyone!

I'm happy to say that I am almost completely rid of this nasty cold that has been plaguing me for several days.  I haven't had a cold this bad in ages!  I'm glad I'm almost better.

Also, while I was fighting my cold, I was also studying and taking finals! D:  I still managed to do well, I think.  I made a B on my Physics II Final.  Yay!!! Now, it's time for upper level physics... Oh, dear.  I'll find out my final grades on Monday!

I did get around to filming my Holiday House Tour.  You can check that out by clicking the YouTube link somewhere to the right of this post and view that video.  Also, I uploaded my Sugar Plum Fairy Inspired Nail Tutorial and I'm in the process of uploading my skincare routine video! I've been a busy girl, because on top of that, I've been wrapping presents, cleaning house, and doing laundry.  My fiancé is coming this week! :D

Thumbnail for my skincare routine video.

Well, I'm glad classes are over for the semester and I seemed to have done pretty well.  Now, I've got to tackle more Christmas gift shopping and making!  Plus, I'll be making more holiday-themed videos as well, and may even feature my lovely fiancé again.  He's such  hoot! :)

Cat Tree Fun/Another sneak peak...?

Hello, once again!

It's Dead Day.  If you don't know what that is, it's the day before finals start.  D:  Anyway, I've been up to studying and all that.  Don't worry.  However, I did get a little side-tracked and did a couple of fun things on my "study breaks" which occur frequently and last quite a while, I should add.

First:

Wilhelmina (aka "Kitten")

While going through the attic in search for Christmas decor this past weekend, I found the cat tree I used to have set up at my place up north.  It was disassembled and I had a hard time remembering exactly how to put it back together, but I eventually got it figured out and a happy Kitten was glad to be pouncing and climbing on it again.  I've moved it to my room and it's in the way of my bed... I have no earthly idea where to put it!

Second:

I decided to play in my makeup because I wanted try out some of my ideas for Christmas/Winter-themed makeup looks.  Here is one I played around with.  I definitely plan to make a few changes before I film it, but I suppose this sort of a sneak peak of my Winter Wonderlandesque look.  It's more like a beta version:

Please  excuse the lack of foundation and the huge zit on my bottom lip.

The colors don't really show up well in these photos (I promise to have better ones when upload the video), plus, there are a few changes that I'm going to make.

I guess I better get back to studying... I can't wait for finals week to be over!  Then... Well, then, I have to get on Christmas presents for everyone.  Anyway, best of luck to other students out there taking their finals this week or sometime in the upcoming weeks.  Study hard and get plenty of sleep.  You're going to do just fine!

Update: Finals, Christmas, OOTD!!! Oh my!

Hey guys!

So, it's finals week!  AHH!  And today is the last day of class!  I have one more class this evening and that's it... except for finals.  AHH!

Anyway, I thought I'd upload an OOTD video, since I haven't really ever done one except a mini one at the end of my intro video and also, they're very quick to make and since I don't have a lot of time on my hands, it was the perfect thing to do!  The video should be up sometime this evening.

Here's a "sneak peak".  Ha!

Also, as soon as this wretched week is over, I'll be back on top of making videos again.  I have a lot of great ideas for Christmas, and I'll probably even do a Christmas decoration house tour video!  So, stay tuned these upcoming weeks if you watch my YouTube videos.  If you don't, you should and you should subscribe.  The link to my channel should be somewhere to the right of this post! --->

Well, that's it for now guys!  I better get back to studying!

New Video in the Works!

Hey guys!

Well, I just got finished painting, hot gluing and bending metal and when I get back from class this evening, I'll work on editing the video I made of it and get it up probably sometime tonight.  What was I doing exactly? Well...

I made a video on how I make my jewelry trees!

This one is a little different because made it with a box instead of a basket.  I, personally, prefer the basket, and I was going to show how to do a basket one, but I couldn't find those baskets at Hobby Lobby anymore.  Either way, you can take the same idea of how to make the one in a box and apply it to making one in a basket.

Well, I'm going to go get some dinner before I head off to class tonight!

Back home... :(

Isn't it just depressing when you get back from a fun vacation/holiday?  And then it's back to the usual routine.  I had such a blast visiting my fiancé and his relatives!  I was spoiled so much by my future mother-in-law!  She's the sweetest person I know!

So what all did I do on my stay?

Tuesday: I arrived sometime after 9pm and was tired, so we really didn't do anything that day.  Ha!

Wednesday: My fiancé's mother took me for a nice, luxurious pedicure at this really snazzy spa.  Then she took me to this really cute tea room downtown for tea where we met up with my fiancé and ate at another restaurant.  Later that afternoon, my fiancé and I played bocce with his stepdad. I think it's such a fun game!

Thursday: Thanksgiving Day!  We went for a walk on some trails in the morning, then I helped cook (some, I wish I could have done more), then we had an amazing dinner!  Afterwards, it was time for the ultimate bocce showdown against my fiancé's brother-in-law. Ha!  That was great fun.  I lost, of course.

Friday: My fiancé, his sister and his mom did early morning Black Friday shopping.  I slept in, then we went to yoga at this cute little studio downtown. I'd never been to a yoga class before (I have attempted it on my own before) and I absolutely loved it!  It was very calming and is a good workout for your body after Thanksgiving dinner! Then, we shopped around a bit and didn't do much for the rest of the evening.

Saturday: More shopping! Ha ha! Of course! Went to Ulta, Marshall's, Tuesday Mornings and then Publix to pick up a few groceries.  I had to pack... :(

Today: I left at 7am this morning.  It's nice to be home and see my cats and dad and brother, but I really hate leaving my fiancé and his family who are so wonderful to me!

Well, that's it for now, I need to start working on schoolwork pronto! I didn't get any done over the break... I'm such a procrastinator and finals are NEXT WEEK!!!  AHH!  Wish me luck!  Don't expect to see or hear of too much of me in the meantime!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

The beautiful "tablescape" set up the night before.

Me making mashed potatoes!

The turkey... even though I'm vegetarian, it just seemed appropriate to add.

Me playing Godzilla or King Kong or something with my niece's dollhouse...
I'm such a kid.

I had an amazing Thanksgiving!  We cooked, ate, played bocce, and of course I had some über amazing homemade pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream! ^_^ I'm so full!  It's been great!  I hope everyone else has had an amazing Thanksgiving spending time with their family and enjoying great food!  Good luck to you crazy Black Friday shoppers out there!  I don't know about you, but I'm sleeping in and then I'm going to yoga.

Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

A Thanksgiving gift basket for my fiancé's Mom

I am!!!  My car is all packed and ready to go.  Just have to wait until my last class of the day ends, which is at 4:20!  Then I have a five hour drive ahead of me.

I'm so excited!  Not about the drive, but about seeing my fiancé and spending time with him and his family.  It will be such a blast!  Hopefully, it will help take my mind of my mom.  They say holidays are really the times you miss your deceased loved ones the most.  I've already been kind of feeling that, but I get to spend it with a great family who have been more than generous and more like a real family to me for the past few years that I've known them.

Just FYI, I re-uploaded my Inexpensive DIY Gift Ideas video on YouTube because I felt like I was way too long-winded in the original version.  I cut down the time by about three minutes and just kept the important stuff in there, so I hope it's much better to watch.  I've also uploaded a video on makeup for blue eyes, so definitely go check that out if you have blue eyes, if not, it's still a great everyday makeup look for any eye color, so go check it out anyway!

Well, that's it for now.  I think I'm going to work on my Planetary Geology Paper until my next class.  I don't know if I'll be back on here before Thanksgiving, so I wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving!  Until next time...

Staring at the Sun...

Hello, lovelies!

I'm back on my blog once again typing about random happenings in my life.

Today, I decided to take my telescope and do some solar observations.  Here's one of the photos I took:

If you squint, you can see a bit of a little cluster of sunspots just down from the center and you may be able to spot some of the other larger ones.  I used my Sony PowerShot to take these images.  All I did was hold the camera up to the eyepiece.  For this image, I used my 20 mm eyepiece in my 8" Equatorial Reflector Telescope with a solar filter of course!!! NEVER EVER EVER look at the sun with a telescope without a solar filter!  The filter blocks out 99.99% of the light, so you can see the sun and not go blind!  So if you ever want to do some solar observing, please purchase a solar filter first.  They are not too expensive (I mean for someone who has bought telescope, because those aren't cheap!).

Aside from that, I've been a busy little worker bee this weekend, cleaning, doing laundry, and working on the loads of schoolwork I have.  Finals are in a little over TWO WEEKS!!!  I'm starting to feel the pressure.  Anyway, I better get back to my studies...

Killing Time...

Greetings from my campus' library!  That's right.  I'm blogging when I probably should be studying or doing homework or something.  Don't worry.  I've got a good 2.5 hours to kill before lab so I'll have plenty of time to work on that other stuff.

Anyway, yesterday, I thought I'd do the I <3 Drugstore Tag, and I filmed it, but I didn't really like the way it turned out, so I don't know that I'll be uploading that one.  Also, I hate to say this, but since I'm getting closer to finals, I probably won't be making many videos between now and the end of finals, but I'll try to make some here and there if I can.

And here is what I'm wearing today:

I took this pic in my bathroom before I left.
(I can definitely see my mom in me in this pic even though I look more like my father)

Maybe I'll do an OOTD video later tonight when I get back home.  I really like what I'm wearing today.  Sorry, that you don't see much of it in the photo.  I'm wearing a sheer, peach ruffle top over a white cami and I just paired that with some jeans and added a few accessories here and there.

Well, I guess I better start on some school work.

New Vid!

It was an instructional video that kind of wound up being more silly than anything, but it features my lovely fiancé!  Here's the video if you want have a look:

Funny how the still looks like I'm doing some sort of science experiment...
Well, it was an experiment of sorts.

Unfortunately, my fiancé will be leaving tomorrow morning. :( We've had a great several days together and I'll be seeing him soon when I go up there for Thanksgiving next week. :D  And maybe I'll have him in a video every now and then when he's around.  He's so silly.  I think he makes my videos more entertaining.

Anyway, I'm happy that he agreed to participate in a video while I "tortured" him.  I've got a lot more videos to come, so if you follow me on YouTube, stay tuned and if not, you should go check out my channel.  The link should be somewhere to the right of this post.

Just an '80's kind of day!

Happy Sunday, everyone!

And this is why it's an '80's sort of day: curly, frizzy hair and slouchy tee.

To achieve this look, all I did was dampen my hair, put some mousse in it and french braided two pigtails then slept on them.  I took them out this morning and ran my fingers through my hair and this is what happened... Ahh!

As for the shirt, I cut up a too big T-shirt I got at Hobby Lobby and then cut strips out of old shirts I had and made them into bows then sewed them onto the shirt.  Very simple DIY fashion! :D

And, my day has just begun.  It's still morning.  I'm waiting on my fiancé to get ready.  He's going to take me out for lunch right after we stop by Sally's Beauty Supply to pick a few things.  He wants me to highlight his hair again.  It's been a while since I last did it.  Maybe I'll talk him into letting me put the whole process up on YouTube?  That would be fun.  It's such an easy thing to do, for those who are curious about highlighting your own hair.

And, later tonight we plan on having a "star party".  I'll be taking my telescope out tonight if it's nice and clear.  My dad's girlfriend is really excited about me showing her planets and deep sky objects, so that will be a lot of fun.  It reminds of when I was a telescope operator at my previous university.  I loved showing students breath-taking objects and teaching them about astronomy.  I suppose I chose the right major.  LOL.

Anyway, I hope everyone else has a great Sunday as well!

What I've been up to/Thanksgiving coming up! :D

It's been a great past few days since my fiancé's been in town.  It's nice to get to spend time with him.  I hate doing the long distance thing... It's very difficult and I don't recommend it.  But, we're sticking it out, because we both really love each other and both really want to finish up out education.

So, I've been hanging out with him, and another friend that he needed to catch up with playing rock band, doing physics homework and having a beer around a fire on a nice, clear night.  And since I've been spending time with my fiancé, that usually means I'm not really being productive in any of the other areas of my life.  It's all worth it though, but I promise I'll get back to working on videos again soon.  I have so much to share! :D

Also, I only have a few weeks of school left!!!  What?!  Yeah, it's about to be crunch time.  I'm getting a little nervous, but I know I'll get everything done.  I always over stress for nothing...

And then there is Thanksgiving!!! I'm so excited about Thanksgiving, but I feel as though it is so overlooked!  I see Christmas stuff everywhere now!  They're already playing Christmas music at the mall and have it decorated in Christmas decorations.  I've seen countless Christmas-related advertisements on the television.  What happened to Thanksgiving? Good grief!  Thanksgiving is still a great holiday that really shouldn't be overlooked.  It's great time to spend with your family, making memories, enjoying great food, and yet, I've not seen a single advertisement to do with Thanksgiving.  And it seems like Thanksgiving isn't even about Thanksgiving anymore!  Black Friday has started to spill over into Thanksgiving.  Opening stores Thanksgiving night to buy presents for... Christmas, of course.  Not that I have anything against Christmas.  I don't know.  This country has just become so materialistic.  Holidays weren't originally about stuff and getting stuff, but that's what it's turned into.  To me, holidays are special times to spend with your close friends and family, to make memories and family traditions, to just take a break from your busy life and spend time with ones you love and enjoy a meal together, because you'd be surprised how often families don't really sit down for a meal together anymore.  Sorry, for the rant...

Anyway, Thanksgiving, though enormously overlooked, is one of my favorite holidays.  I can't wait to spend it with my fiancé's family again this year.  We always have such a good time.  I hope anyone who stumbles up on this, also doesn't overlook Thanksgiving, or really just any time special time to spend time with the ones you love just to do it.  It's a lot of fun and a lot of special memories you will have to look back on later when your grand-parents are gone or your parents are gone or aunts and uncles.

Well, that's it for now!  I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

New Vid/My Boring Life

Hello, once again!

What have I been doing?  Well, I've actually been quite productive over the past few days.  I don't know what has gotten into me.  Plus, I've already started working on Christmas gifts!  I'll be sure to share some of my creations on here.  I promise!

Today, after class this morning, I decided to stop by Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Goodwill and pick up a few things.  I won't go into too much detail since I posted a haul video on YouTube that you can watch here:

I'm actually excited that I've started putting up videos on YouTube again.  Yes, I know I don't have that many viewers/subscribers, but it's not about that for me, it's something that I enjoy doing.  Plus, I have a lot of ideas that I want to share in the future... I just have to get around to filming it.  Also, I want to get an HD camera so that my videos are better quality and more pleasant to watch.  LOL.

So, yeah, my head is full of ideas for videos for YouTube ranging from crafts to beauty and DIY.  And if anyone out there has any questions or requests for me or just any kind of feedback, I'd just love it, and I'd try my best to answer their questions or fulfill their request or improve somehow.  Anyway, I guess I just need to get more videos out there first.

Well, I guess that it's for now.  I'm getting a tad sleepy... not used to the time change yet, plus, I have a lot to get done tomorrow and I also have to go vote.

Anxiously Awaiting...

Hey, guys!

It's me again.  I'm just chilling in the library waiting for my Physics II Lab anxiously because we get our exams back today and I just know I did absolutely terrible on it... Yikes!

I just finished my lab report from the last lab (I'm such the procrastinator) and thought I'd blog a little since I don't actually have anything else to do right now.  I've been staying on top of things.

So, I'm sure you've noticed that I've been putting videos on YouTube again.  Yeah, I think I'll stick with it this time.  I think it's a lot of fun.  I know my camera is not exactly the greatest quality, but I'm hoping to get an HD camera sometime within the next couple of months, so please be patient with me.

Also, if you haven't seen my previous video:

Basically, I'm going to do a giveaway if I reach 100 subscribers and give away the extra Mac Fluidline Gel Liner in Blacktrack I got sent by accident.  I thought if I made it that far, my subscribers deserved a treat to show how much I appreciate them.

Also, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!  I totally almost forgot.  Yes, it's Halloween and sadly, I have no Halloween party to go to tonight, but I won't let that get me down.  I probably should use that time studying anyway, since I know I didn't do well on that exam yesterday.  I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.  Also, if you happen to stumble upon my channel or this post and want to share your pics of your costume, I'd love to see them.

I guess I'll stop rambling for now and find something else useful to do.  LOL.

My Halloween Costume

I tried my best to look like a lifeless doll.

Here is a closeup on my doll makeup.

If you want more details on how I achieved this big-eyed dolly look, check out my video:

I kind of look creepy in the still.  LOL.

Anyway, as I've already told you the party I was going to was cancelled due to the hostess being ill (or at least that's what I was told), but I felt like dressing up anyway and sharing how I created my doll-like look.

I know Halloween isn't for another few days, but I want to go ahead and wish you all a Happy and safe Halloween in case I don't post anytime between now and then.

Well, that's if for now.  I've got loads of homework and a Physics II test to study for. :/  I'm such the procrastinator.  Shame on me!

Later, dolls! ;)

Back on YouTube

Hi, everybody!

Peachy Sara is back on YouTube!

Sorry about the poor quality in this video.  I used my laptop camera.  Don't worry, I used my better quality camera for my next videos and for the videos here on out... until I can get an even better camera, of course.

I'm happy that I'm making YouTube videos again.  I enjoy sharing my ideas with anyone willing to watch or, in the case of my blog, read.  I'm not going to chicken out and take down my videos this time like I did in the past.  I've learned that, yes, I'm not perfect, I'm not the best, but I'm who I am and I'm unique and talented in my own special way.  I enjoy making videos and I shouldn't let my negative opinion of myself stop me.  It's very true that "you are your worst critic."

Anyway, for anyone who is reading this, please feel free to wander over to my YouTube channel, the link should be posted somewhere to the right of this post.  I'll try to put videos out as often as I can, probably once a week at the very least.

Now, I have some bad news.  That party I was invited to got cancelled because the hostess got sick.  I was kind of bummed about that, not only because my friend is sick, but because I was actually looking forward to dressing up and sharing my photos of my costume on here.  But who knows? I might just dress up for the hell of it and take a few photos anyway.

Well, that's it for now.  It's almost 1 am and time for me to go to sleep.

Walgreens Mini Haul/My Halloween Costume/OOTD

Hello all!  I'm sitting in a study room right now helping a classmate out with some homework that was due Monday.  Ha!  Thought I'd share a little bit of my life with you.

Yesterday, I went to Walgreens to pick up some meds and of course did some browsing around.  I was glad, though, because look at these bad boys:

I decided that these would look great with my Halloween costume (which I'll get to in just a bit).  They're from the makers of Wet n Wild cosmetics and they have a few other lash choices to choose from if these don't tickle your fancy or match your costume, rather.  They also have a selection of Halloween makeup that is very inexpensive, so go to your nearby Walgreens and check it out!

And for the rest of the things I picked up a Walgreens... Well, they're not that exciting, mostly essentials.

I needed some nail polish remover and they had a sale of 2 for $2 (or $1.29 each), so I went on ahead and bought two.  I got St. Ives Mineral Therapy body wash.  I'ver never tried it before, but it smelled good and looked very moisturizing (which is what I need)... We shall see.  And then a Sinful Colors nail polish that was on sale for $0.99 (originally $1.99)

I picked up Nirvana

I thought it'd be a nice brown color for fall (just FYI, it looks darker in person)

Now for my Halloween costume.  I sort of found out last minute that I was invited to a Halloween party, so I didn't really have much time to throw something original together.  Instead, I dug around in my closet and found this:

(Excused the curly hair... That photo was taken during my crazy perm days)
Didn't have a really good front view of the dress... :/
I love all the poofiness at the bottom! ^_^

Anyway, I purchased this Sweet Lolita dress from milanoo.com over a year ago and was going to wear it to a wedding, but never did.  I decided to be a doll... at first.  Just a plain doll, but then...

I saw Bubzbeauty's tutorial on how to do a porcelain doll that is broken and I decided that I would use the cracks/broken pieces idea for my costume.  She did a great job! And, you can also see where those ginormous lashes come into play.  Dollies seem to have those enormously long, thick lashes.  I can't wait to see how it all turns out and I'll be sure to post pics I take before the party. :)

Also, if you were wondering about that tutorial Bubzbeaty made and are interested in being a broken porcelain doll yourself, here's the link: Porcelain/Broken Doll Transformation

Moving on to OOTD!  Just something simple and quick I threw together.  Probably not worth mentioning, but why the hell not since I'm already here?

I've been gone...

... and I'm sure no one has noticed.  That's not the point of this post anyway.  The point is share what I have been up to.

So, my life has mostly been busy with school.  There were a few weeks that I had tests and loads of assignments due and not much time for anything else, but things have slowed down a bit and I can relax a little... for now.

Also, last weeked I went to visit my fiancé for Fall Break.  YAY!!!  I hadn't seen him in OVER TWO MONTHS!  We had a great time.  He spoiled me aaaaaand he took me horseback riding, something I've never ever done before.

Me riding Rambo

I'm 22 and I've never been horseback riding and I even had a best friend in middle school who had a horse and often rode it and somehow I guess it never occurred to either of us to let me try riding it.  I guess we were too busy playing 007 on our Nintendo Gamecubes, playing the Sims, and talking about getting our periods and boys we liked.  It's nice to reminisce about my preteen years... but not for long. Ha!

Anyway, I had loads of fun riding.  I was nervous about riding Rambo... his name is Rambo.  Wouldn't you be nervous about riding a horse named Rambo if it was your first time?  Rambo was a sweetie though.  He was a bit stubborn getting started, but other than that I had no trouble riding him at all.

To anyone who has never been horseback riding, I definitely recommend it.  Horses are beautiful, intriguing creatures.  Just make sure you have someone with experience to guide you and you'll have a safe, fun time.

Well, that's it for now.  Hopefully, I'll get back into posting pretty regularly again.  I really enjoy it.

Playing in makeup and Tests I should be studying for!

Hello, all!  Tomorrow I have a DE test, so what am I doing? Not studying... Okay, I promise I'll get it done, I'm just... doing other things right now. Ha!

So, it's been a hella crazy week.  Had a test Tuesday, that I didn't know about and... well, I definitely didn't pass. :/  And then, I have a test tomorrow that I found out I had on Tuesday (I really should start writing this stuff down), so I really hope I do a lot better on that... Eh...

Anyway, I decided I was bored of studying and decided to take a break and play in my makeup.  So much fun!  I don't know about anyone else, but everyone else thinks it's weird that I just randomly play in my makeup.  My fiancé asks, "Why are you putting on your makeup if you're not going out?" I guess it's a girl thing... Well, I hope on not the only one... :P

Anyway, I have small, beady eyes.  I get my lovely eyes from my father, but that's okay, I just like to use makeup up to enlarge them. :)

Amazing what just a bit of black and white eyeliner in the right places can do.

And, I guess just to show you what I usually do on my lid.  Something basic and neutral, normally.  Not too exciting...

And from far away, you can tell my eyes really pop and look so much larger (I should have taken a before photo to show the difference because my eyes now just look normal eyes size.  Ha!)

Well, loves, I think that's it for now.  If anyone would like a bit more detail on exactly what I do to achieve big, dolly eyes, please let me know and I'd love to either explain that here or put up a vid on YouTube.  I guess it's back to studying for me... :(

L'Oreal True Match vs. L'Oreal True Match Lumi Review

Hello all!  So, I recently purchased the new (I'm assuming it's new.  I hadn't heard of it before I saw it in Wal-Mart the other day... It says it's new on a little sticker on the bottle...) L'Oreal True Match Lumi liquid foundation.  What really drew me to it was the fact that it had a pump!  Yay!  Sadly, the original L'Oreal True Match is a bottle you pour and it just gets messy.  Anyway, I LOVE L'Oreal True Match. It's my favorite drugstore foundation and, in my opinion, probably the best drugstore foundation out there.  Anyway, I'll stop rambling on and we'll get to the review:

First, I'll start with True Match:

True Match has been around for a while (honestly don't know how long) and I've been using it for almost three years now.

Here is what I LOVE about it:

-Good coverage (about medium coverage for those of you who don't know what I define "good coverage" as)

-Sun screen built in (has an SPF 17... not great, but better than nothing)

-Very lasting and even more lasting if I use a primer underneath (which I find myself doing a lot in the summer when I'm sweating a lot in my car with no AC D:)

-Best match to my skin tone (I guess that's kind of a given.  I love how not only they have the basic light, medium, dark shades and lost in between, but also shades that match the  warmness or coolness of your skin tone)

What I HATE about this product:

-The bottle! (This may not bother other people, but I hate the pour out bottle.  I feel like it just makes a mess and when you're at the end of the bottle you have to wait a while before anything starts to come out)

-Has a weird sort of painty smell.  (This actually kind of turned me off to it at first... If you know me I'm big on stuff smelling good.  If it doesn't, I probably won't use it.  But once I tried it out and it was amazing on my skin, I decided I could put up with the smell.)

And that pretty much covers the original True Match.  Overall, for a drugstore product, I think it's amazing.  I feel like I'm getting high end quality for ~$9, which may be expensive for some, but I think it's more than worth it.  Moving on to...

True Match Lumi:

What I LOVE:

-It has a pump!  Yay!  Makes life so much easier!

-Sun screen... but this time it's a bit higher SPF.  SPF 20.  This time they put in Octinoxate for sun protection as opposed to... I don't even know what they use in the other kind, the letters are so hard to read on the bottle. Ha!

-Again very good match to my skin tone. (However, I did notice they kind of threw the n1 and n2 together in one bottle.  I was worried, it would be too light for me, but it matches it very nicely.)

-It doesn't have the bad smell! (I can't really describe the smell... It's not as strong and a bit sweet is the best I can do, but it's so much better.  This is like smelling a meadow of flowers compared to the other stuff.)

-For lasting ability, so far it's been great!  (But I have only worn it out for a couple of times.  Haven't really put it to the test yet.)

What I HATE:

-I feel like it's lost some of it's coverage.  (It could just be me.  While it still has a decent coverage and I still love it, I think the original True Match has the best coverage.  I think maybe with the added sun protection, you lose some of that coverage. It's not that big of a deal to me, but if you're all about coverage and don't mind the weird smell and the lack of pump, I would stick with the original if I were you.)

Overall, I LOVE the new True Match Lumi and will probably stick with this one for the next while.  It does cost a little more... I got it at Wal-Mart for $10.97, but I think it's still worth it for a couple bucks more.

Well, that pretty much concludes it.  They're both great foundations and I'd recommend them to anyone.  You won't have any trouble finding one that matches your skin.  I promise.

There's a Galaxy in my Room!

My love for Astronomy

+

My love for Art

=

If your don't recognize that nice spiral galaxy right there, that is M31 (a.k.a. The Andromeda Galaxy).  Painting is definitely not my area of expertise, but I don't let that stop me from mixing up some colors and having a try!  It shouldn't stop anyone from trying something they've never done before or aren't that skilled at.  If you enjoy it or think you might, then DO IT, because it's worth the fun! :D

So, there are obvious flaws with this painting.  One that really annoys me is that M110 (the galaxy below M31) just seems a bit off.  I feel like it needs to be nudged a little to the right.  And of course, there are other things here and there I wished I could have executed a bit better.  Oh, well.  Maybe I'll improve with more practice.  I have been painting a lot more lately.  I've been pretty stressed out, and it really helps me relax and take my mind off of my worries.  And sometimes, it takes me to other galaxies. ;)

I love how I can incorporate two things that I love into one!  It makes it TWO times more enjoyable!  Ha!  I wonder if there's a way I could incorporate exercise with something fun that I love to do... I'll have to work on that one.

Well, I guess that's it for now.  If anyone happens to stumble upon this post, what are two things you love that you like to combine and how do you go about it?  Am I right about it being twice as fun?

TTYL!

It's the most Creative Time of Year!

It's getting closer to autumn!  You know what that means: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then Christmas shopping right after.  It's my favorite time of year because it's the time of year to be creative!

First, you have halloween.  You've got to make costumes, do your hair and makeup, decorate, parties to go to or plan.  It's one creative holiday!

Then, you have Thanksgiving.  It may not be as creative with costumes or decorations, but it is with food!  It's time to cook and bake and be with family.  You can get together and try new recipes for Thanksgiving dinner, and if they don't work out, oh well. You still got to spend some quality time with your family cooking and baking... and you'll know what not to do next year.

And then right after Thanksgiving, it's time to go on the hunt for Christmas gifts.  D:  I like to make Christmas gifts. :)  It's cheaper, more fun, and more personal. Also, you don't have to worry about fighting the crowds in stores.  But, if crafts aren't your thing, it still helps to have a little creativity to pick out gifts for certain people.  There are some people that are impossible to shop for!

Anyway, I'm excited about the upcoming holidays and can't wait to get started costumes, decorations, gifts, whatever.  And I hope to share some of my creations with you all and if you'd like to share some of yours with me, I'd love to see it!

I've had this video on my iPhone for a few weeks.  The ducks next door decided to pay us a visit.  They're so cute!  ^_^

DIY Soda Can Candle Holders

So I came up with this idea when my family and I were going through a lot of cans of soda (I've since given them up... again) and our card for the dump expired (it costs $100 a year to take your trash off and recycle in this town).  Don't worry.  We weren't letting trash pile up.  We have a sanitation service that picks up our garbage weekly; however, they do not do recycling hence the reason for the garbage dump card.  I hated seeing all those cans thrown away and knowing that they'd be sitting in a landfill when they could be recycled or reused, so I decided to come up with a way to make use of these empty soda cans.

All I did was cut the 2/3 top of the can off with a good pair of durable scissors and then trimmed it a bit to even out the sides.  I then measured some scrapbook paper I bought at Ross to match the height of the can and cut that out then pasted it on with some rubber cement.  Next, I poured some rice in to keep the candles stabilized (I would have rather used little decorative pebbles, but I was fresh out).  Finally, I placed little tea light candles in each holder and that's it!

I'm sure there are some many different variations on this you can do.  You could probably leave more can and put a larger candle in.  And instead of using scrapbook paper, you could paint your own designs if you're good at painting or even draw on some plain white paper and paste it on.  Instead of rice or pebbles, you could use sand and make your candle holders beach themed.  And you could probably come up with something creative to use for the unused parts of the can. The only limit is your imagination!

I love my little candles.  Was thinking about perhaps doing a tutorial on them on YouTube, but this time I'll be sure to stock up on tiny pebbles from the arts supply store and maybe come up with some creative takes on it.  Who know's?

I hope to whomever may stumble upon this post that you like it and if you have any other creative uses for used soda cans or any other reusable material, feel free to comment and let me know.  I love DIY and reusing things in interesting ways, so please do share!

Well, that's it for now!

Sunday... What can I say about Sunday?

It's exciting in no way whatsoever.  Hence my reason for being here on Blogger today.  Not that I've been a lazy bum today, because I haven't.  I cleaned the house, did all the laundry and finished a homework assignment.  Yay!  Go me!  Now that I'm finished with everything (except for the other homework assignment that I should be doing right now), I'm a bit bored.  Thought I'd just come here to ramble...  Who care's?  Nobody reads these anyway.

Hmm... I don't know why, but I'm really feeling like trying my hand at the YouTube thing again... Break my cycle of "Oooh, I want to make videos." *makes videos* "Wow... they kind of suck... Well, I've got time to improve." *uploads videos to YouTube* "All right!  There they are! *a bit of time passes* "Man, I look so goofy. What was I thinking?" *a bit more time passes and I rewatch a few* "Wow, I suck.  I'm taking these things down." And I've done that a few times already in the past few years.  Maybe the 4th time's the charm?? Who knows?

Well, if it happens, it happens.  In the meantime, I guess I'm content just typing here in this blog.  It's nice and cozy. :)

So ready for autumn! Still got a month to go, though.  Sorry, just randomly thought about it while looking outside at the green leaves on the trees.  I feel like it's time for them to be brown (yes, brown.  None of the trees here turn nice, pretty yellow, orange, and red hues like the place I used to live. :/) and the air to be cool.  I know that summer is my favorite season... but, I'm a bit tired of melting and autumn's a close 2nd. :)  I'm already ready for Halloween and Thanksgiving.  I LOVE Thanksgiving.  Mostly because of all the food... I love to eat.  Can't wait for that homemade pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream on top.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it...

Well, I better go before I get drool on the keyboard.  Talk to you all later (that is, if anyone reads this, and if so, what's your favorite part about autumn? If you even have a favorite part.  If you don't, and you just hate autumn so much, then what is that makes it so unbearable?)  Anyway, I'm off!  Have a good Sunday!  Make it a FUN DAY!

Where have I been?

Wow... I seem to have forgotten about this place.  It's been nearly a year, but somehow I find myself wandering back over here.  Life just got in the way: moving back home, school, my mom's death.  It's been a crazy past several months.  But, I feel like I've really come out a lot stronger and a lot more motivated to reach my goals.  I'm appreciating life a lot more and spending more time with the ones I love.  I really hate that it's taken the death of my mom to give me this new outlook on life, but I'm happy I took something from that bad situation and turned it into something positive.

Moving on, though... School's back in, so it's probably obvious what I'll be spending a lot of my time doing, but in my free time, I'd like to start doing more with my blog and, perhaps, even Youtube.  That may be a little ambitious for me, but we'll see.  In the mean time, I'll dazzle you with pictures of my cats.

Wilhelmina (a.k.a. Kitten)

Princess

Abigail (a.k.a. Scrabbers)

And...

A new addition to come... :)

Oh, shit.  It's begun!  I'm becoming the crazy cat lady.
